MSK care for foot & ankle problems

If you’re dealing with foot or ankle pain, our dedicated MSK (musculoskeletal) assessment and treatment appointments are designed to help you get back on your feet.

When you come in for your initial appointment, we will start by taking a detailed history of your symptoms and any previous injuries. We believe in understanding the whole picture, so we’ll discuss your lifestyle, activity levels, and any factors that may be contributing to your pain.

Next, we’ll conduct a comprehensive mechanical assessment. This involves evaluating your posture, movement, and walking mechanics in both seated and standing positions. We’ll also have you walk up and down the room while we perform a Gait in Motion scan. This dynamic scan gives us valuable information about how your feet, ankles, and body move, helping us identify any patterns that could be contributing to your pain.Once we’ve gathered all this information, we’ll develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Rehabilitation exercises are a key part of this plan

We often use a stepped approach that starts with foundational exercises and progresses over 4 appointments. These exercises focus on strengthening and stretching the muscles surrounding the foot and ankle, improving their function, and alleviating pain. As we progress through rehabilitation, the exercises become more challenging to gradually build strength and mobility.

In addition to rehabilitation exercises, your treatment plan may include the prescription of orthotics to support your feet, along with recommendations for footwear and potential activity modifications. The goal is to address the root cause of your pain and improve the strength and functionality of your feet, ankles, and legs, which are essential for long-term recovery and injury prevention.

With targeted rehabilitation and a holistic approach, we aim to help you manage and resolve your foot and ankle pain effectively. Whether it’s strengthening muscles, improving movement patterns, or providing supportive solutions like orthotics, we’re here to help you achieve lasting relief.
